Love has no boundaries
Proposing is probably one of the scariest, exciting, and most thrilling moments that one can experience. One would hope the answer to be yes but as they say, life is full of surprises.
One of those surprises can be the lengths one goes to in order to make the proposal as special as possible for their significant other.
When someone is in love, there is no limit to that love.
Matthew Russo, founder of A Creative Traveler, took great strides to prepare for his proposal to his girlfriend, Kristina in 2016.
Kristina and Matt met 8 years prior at the Napa Valley Winery in California.
It didn’t take long for him to realize that she is who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Matthew wanted to be respectful and have the support of Kristina’s family before popping the big question. In order to do this, he’d have to use his creative, traveling skills to reach Kristina’s family members.
Matthew sought approval from Kristina’s grandmother, mother, and late father.
Kristina’s grandmother lived in Las Vegas and her mother resided in Orlando. Her father, who passed in 2007, was buried in New York.
Matthew made plans to stop at the residences of each of them and decided to capture every stop on camera to show Kristina.
Matthew first stopped at the San Fransico airport to greet his friends. In the video, he confesses that his intentions are not what Kristina believes them to be.
Kristina believes that Matthew is going to New York to see his friend, Johnny, get married.
After picking up some friends in San Fransico, he makes his way to New York to visit Kristina’s late father.
He brought flowers with him and just as he kneeled down, he stated his intentions with his daughter.
“I wish I would’ve had the chance to actually have met you. Kristina tells me all the time about how you and I are very similar. I take pride in that considering how highly she speaks of you. I hope you’ll accept me and allow me to one day be your son-in-law. I promise to adopt your role as a caregiver. I promise to protect and look after your daughter for as long as I live.”
His next stop is Orlando to see Kristina’s mother. She’s surprised to see him but almost immediately begins to cry when he says that he has a surprise for her. When he asks, she doesn’t hesitate.
“Her father would be so happy too, Matt. He knows you’re good to my daughter, that you love my daughter.”
His last stop was Las Vegas to see Kristina’s grandmother. She too had no doubts about Matthew being a great fit for her granddaughter.
She gave him the family ring, a diamond that was purchased over 80 years ago by her stepmom. Matthew had it customized with rose-gold and platinum added.
By the end, Matthew had traveled over 3,000 miles to get the blessings from the most important people in Kristina’s life.
They all said yes. Now, would Kristina?
She did!
Back where the couple first met, Matt proposed to her in front of their family and friends.
The couple wed in 2018 and went on a month-long honeymoon that included visits to Bali and the Swiss Alps.
What a journey. Out of all the adventures Matt has gone on, we have no doubt this one was the most memorable and special.
