The price of New York City living, especially rent, keeps many from living their dream of being a New Yorker though. The current average price for a one bedroom apartment for rent in New York City is $2891.

That price will keep many dreamers from moving!

Living Bobby is here to tell you that you still can live in New York City on the cheap! He knows what it is like to be fearful of the move to NYC because of the rent price.

“I moved to New York City to pursue my dream of creating and before I moved here there was just really one thing that scared me, the rent,” he admits.

Living Bobby gives a tour of an apartment that was similar to his first apartment in NYC to help show others that living in New York City on a budget is possible! He gives a tour of an apartment in Lower Manhattan that’s rent is only $600 per roommate!

Yes, you read that correctly, $600 for rent in New York City! The only part is, you probably need to prepare to downsize, by a lot.

The apartment is 300 square feet and the room for rent is 75 square feet. When opening the front door, the first room seen is the kitchen. The kitchen is complete with an oven, stove top, microwave, and refrigerator.

He notes the kitchen is not bad space, unless you get stuck with messy housemates!

The kitchen is connected to the common room. This apartment has set up of a small couch, one chair and a coffee table. This set-up is for the housemates to have a place to eat but can be set up differently for apartment!

From Living Bobby’s experience, he admits, “At this price, you’re not really expecting that crazy amount of stuff. So, I think this is a pretty good living room.”

The next room to tour is the bathroom. It looks to be a tight fit for one person in this tiny apartment. While watching the video, you will notice it is loud as well! When a person turns on the light, the noisy fan turns on too.

For the small size, this bathroom is a standing shower only, no bathtubs could fit in there!

Living Bobby’s favorite part of the bathroom was its unique door, a normal door could not even fit for this bathroom!

On to the most important room, the bedroom! The room looks tiny for many but Living Bobby notes that it is not that bad. There are smaller rooms in NYC. The key is the set-up of the room. Building a loft bed creates more personal space, as this room has done.

It is like having a small living room in your bedroom too!

Living Bobby notes that many New Yorkers are used to limited space. So, while it might seem crazy to many, having a loft bed lets people double up in one room.

The rent might be cheap, but you would have no personal space!

A major plus to this apartment would be the access to the fire escape! You could watch the hustle and bustle from the city from the window of your apartment. Also, a great escape if you ever get too claustrophobic!
