The idea of bigger is always better is falling by the wayside, and nothing proves that quite like tiny houses.

While large homes and mansions are still something many people dream of owning, tiny houses are growing in demand. Companies like Tiny in a Box prove that you don’t have to give up luxury or style to take advantage of these affordable, extremely compact homes.

This tiny home, known as the West End Model, sells for just $60,000, a fraction of the cost of a full-sized home. It isn’t hard to see why mini-homes are appealing from a financial perspective, especially considering the high-end materials found within.

In addition to packing in the amenities and spaces that people expect from any home, Tiny in a Box chooses the materials carefully to minimize the impact on the environment.

According to the description of the West End Model:

“The interior consists of recycled, sustainable, and organic materials.”

Even though the home is only several hundred square feet, there is still more than enough room for a full-service bathroom, a spacious bedroom, a large living space, a kitchen, and huge windows to let in plenty of light and make the house feel larger.

As you look at each of the rooms, you will see just how much attention to detail was put into creating a space that feels high-end yet homey – all with limited square footage.

The floorplan gives you a good idea of how the entire space fits together as a cohesive whole, something to keep in mind as you examine each individual room.

The living room may have limited space, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Clever use of shelves provides all the storage you could need, and there is even room for a large-screen television. With a full three-section sofa across from the TV and enough floor space for more than one person to do yoga, the living room is anything but cramped.

Look more closely at the kitchen, and you will notice that in addition to space for a reasonably sized fridge, there is enough counter room for the sink, burners, and appliances, in addition to a prep area!

Factor in all the clever cabinets and drawers, and whoever chooses to live in this tiny home will be able to store everything they truly need. There is even room for a table and two chairs without it feeling squeezed into place.

The bedroom is another highlight of this home from Tiny in a Box. It easily fits a queen-size bed, a wardrobe large enough to store two people’s clothing (if they don’t have an excessive amount), and a chair plus some accessories.

However, the room that will impress most people is the bathroom. You won’t have to squeeze into the shower or fight to use the sink. The sink basin is almost wide enough to share, and the sleek bathroom design appears modern with plenty of cabinet space.

One of the most appealing parts of this tiny home is the ability to extend your space with the outside patio. You can easily host guests on the front deck, which has space for a table and chairs on one end and a pair of armchairs on the other without impeding the flow of the space.

This particular model is just a sampling of what we can now get from tiny homes.

Tiny in a Box has a range of basic models, all of which are customizable.

You can attach a covered deck to your tiny home before throwing in some amazing landscaping. Or opt for a design that includes wide-opening French doors along an entire side of the home to truly make it feel open.

If more people were to embrace these tiny homes, just imagine the drop in housing prices there could be. And because these houses are small enough to put almost anywhere, you only need a small plot of land to build one.
