If you spend any time on the internet, you’ve either done it or seen other people do it. What are we talking about? Posting photos of things to find out what they are. As you’re about to discover, these posts are either hilarious, strange, or just downright creepy.
1. Not the cuddly type
At first glance, this looks like an ordinary housecat. But then the person noticed it didn’t have a tail and it seems rather large. After reaching out to the internet, they discovered it’s a black bobcat…not the kind of kitty that likes to snuggle.
2. Get a room
One person posted about this “thing” found in their yard. Whatever it was, it was moving. So, they reached out for help, and let’s just say, these two worms need to get a room.
3. Unique tea kettle
One person purchased this unique “tea kettle” at a thrift store but after doing a lot of research, they couldn’t find any information. So, they asked the internet. Hopefully, they never made tea in it because it’s not a kettle but rather, a portable urinal for bedbound patients.
4. A cool yet eerie discovery
Imagine walking through the forest only to come upon this. Well, that’s what happened to one person. But having no idea what it was, they asked…it’s a one-man bomb shelter from WWII.
5. Interesting scissors
The individual who found these had no clue why there were four finger holes. Well, these scissors are designed to help children learn to cut things safely. The additional holes allow a grownup to guide a child while cutting.
6. Spy gadget?
That’s what one person thought after finding this under their dresser while cleaning. They posted a photo hoping to learn more about it. Come to find out, it’s a voice recorder that may or may not have a connection to a camera.
7. Cool photo
While scanning slides from 1964, an individual found an image of this hovering above the family home in Texas. Was it a UFO? Well, according to a commenter, it’s the vapor from a rocket launch.
8. Highly suspicious
After finding this in their father’s room, the word “dominatrix” came to mind. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. This is a “yak track” that slips over the top of shoes to prevent slips and falls on ice.
9. Purple sky
One Southern California poster snapped a photo of a purple sky at 1:30 a.m. It looked quite ominous. But they learned it was nothing more than the color of grow lights coming from a commercial marijuana operation.
10. The neighbor’s garden
One individual had a neighbor with a garden like this. It freaked them out. They had every right to be concerned since it’s a Voodoo altar.
11. Baby-driven cart
That’s what this person thought it was. But considering it was moving on its own, they had to find out more. Fortunately, it’s just a robotic food delivery service.
12. Camouflaged capsule
Finding this inside a tree left an individual stumped. It looked a little suspicious but it was actually super cool. When found, people are supposed to sign the piece of paper inside.
13. German design
One individual saw this inside a restroom in Germany. Not knowing what it was, they reached out to the internet. This “sink” with a handle is used by people who need to throw up.
14. Health benefits
The purpose of this fish remained a mystery until the person who bought it asked others online. At one time, iron deficiency was a common problem in Asian countries. So, they’d boil something like this and then use the water for cooking to increase iron levels.
15. Years of research
For 20 years, an individual tried to find out what this was. Thanks to an online user, they got their answer. It’s the jaw of a drum fish.
16. The chain
This is a little unnerving. But after asking questions, the individual learned it’s not a big deal. At one time, a hanging chain was used for water runoff much like modern day downspouts.downspout.

Initially, these look like “crop circles” on the beach. But that’s not the case. One poster explained these are remnants of a clam survey performed by scientists.

Finding white powder on the countertops after a party is never good. But this person had no need to worry. It’s just a sewing tool used for marking on fabric.
19. Earth-bound missile
That’s what this person thought after capturing a photo of this. Thankfully, it wasn’t anything threatening. Since the photo was taken round sunset, the contrail of a passenger plane appears like this.
20. Gross
This is a strange post. Before going on vacation, a woman put bleach in the bathroom sink. After returning, she found this. Unfortunately, bleach oxidized the metal components, which turned the liquid black.
21. New spider species?
That’s what it looks like. But it’s not. Rather, this is a male Creatonotos gangis moth using its sweat glands to attract a lovely female.
22. A hand grenade or a bug
Well, neither. If this had a long, slithering body attached, this person would’ve known what it was. But one poster explained it’s a rattlesnake’s rattler.
23. Pretty but confusing
This almost looks like a corsage but since it was found on a woman’s car, it couldn’t be. So, she asked online users. It’s a caterpillar known as the Spiny Oak-Slug carrying around a lot of eggs.
24. Baffling
While mowing the yard, a man found this hanging from a branch. He definitely needed help to identify it. Amazingly, this was a pregnant snake likely caught by a bird. But the weight of eggs caused the uterine tube to fall out.
25. Strange hive
The woman who found this wasn’t too happy. Especially since she didn’t know what it was. After asking online users, she got an interesting answer…it’s a dwarf honey bee hive.

This rock was different from most. After posting a photo, one user commented that it’s a piece of slate with perfectly embedded Pyrite. Most people know it as Fool’s Gold.
27. Beach find
The person who found this saw thousands of them on the beach. That’s when he discovered it’s part of a Man O’ War Snail. It’s a good thing he picked up one without the body attached since they produce a nasty sting.
28. Another beach treasure
This thing looks incredibly weird. A man also found this on a beach. After reaching out for help, he discovered it’s a Conical Snail’s egg mass.
29. Miniature flask
That’s what this thing appears to be but it’s not. When asking online, this individual got their answer. During the Victorian era, it held perfume, making it easy for women to freshen up on the go.
30. Red-eyed monster
This would give anyone nightmares. But after finding out what it was, the individual didn’t feel frightened at all. It’s simply a Magnolia seed head.
31. Awe…so cute
This guy knew this was an amphibian. But he had not idea its species. Quickly, he found out it’s a Blue Spotted Salamander.
32. Living on another planet
The person who saw this thought they’d entered the Twilight Zone. That’s why they reached out to the internet to solve the mystery. What they discovered is these nuns of the Bridgettine Order are wearing the Crown of the Five Holy Wounds.
33. Green slime
Can you imagine seeing green stuff grow on your Band-Aids? That’s a little freaky. But it’s nothing more than the acrylate absorbed by the adhesive.
34. Catch of the day or an exotic plant
It could be either one. But uncertain, this person started searching for answers. What they found is that this is a Feather Star, which is kin to both sea urchins and starfish.
35. Silver with a rotating ball
No one was sure what this was. So, the person who found it will need to do a little more research. However, they might want to start with one of the answers…a cigar lighter.
36. These look dangerous
Even hollow, these look like bombs from WWII. Curious, this person had to find out. One poster thought they were medical dilators for some orifice.
37. Growing in the dark
One person discovered this at work. Reaching out to online users, what they learned was interesting. This stringy mass is a plant called Field Horsetail that’s covered with fungus.
38. An alien
The person who came upon this had to identify it and quickly. Are you ready for this? This is mice goo mixed with feces oozing out of a wall where a large number of these tiny creatures lived.
39. Crazy gadget
Gadgets are fun unless you have no clue what they are. One way to find out…ask others on the internet. Someone explained this is an old-fashioned carpet stretcher.
40. Seriously?
One individual fixed an egg for breakfast. After cutting into it, this thing slid out. This is a meat spot…in other words, a small piece of chicken that didn’t fertilize.
41. Antique furniture
After spotting this in a shop, an individual wanted to know what it was. A poster came to the rescue, explaining it’s a “butter worker.” It works by separating the fat from churned butter and buttermilk.
42. A tiny dragon…
…or so it seemed. A pet owner pulled this out of their pup’s mouth so it was important to identify it. Fortunately, it’s just a harmless Sphinx moth caterpillar.
43. Uranium glass
That’s the only thing this person knew for sure. But they decided to ask others online. This thing is a “bottoms up” shot glass that due to its design, there’s no way to set it down so the individual drinking must down the shot all at once.
44. What in the heck?
Seeing these on a car in Florida, one woman had to know more. Did someone shoot arrows at this vehicle? No, these are bumper guides to make parking easier and safer.
45. A gooey mess
After finding this in a backyard pond, the person immediately turned to the internet. What is this crazy-looking thing? Well, there’s a simple solution…it’s the swim bladder of a fish.
46. Coat of Armor
Having received these from a friend in Germany, they peaked the recipient’s curiosity. Off to the internet for answers. Amazingly, these are applied to walking sticks.
47. Coffee key
Why is there a coffee key on an old Samsung computer keyboard? That’s what one person wanted to know. Although weird, this is what activates the screensaver.

After returning home from work, an individual found pine needles and paper stuck in their door. What in the world is going on? One poster explained the pine invites joyful energy into the home…as for the paper, no one knew.

While taking a walk in Israel, one family spotted a huge rock blocking the path. What was it? One person commented this was likely an ancient base of a column.
50. Interesting jewelry
Found in a backyard, the person looked to the internet for insight. From what one person replied, it’s an incredible find. This Georgian/early Victorian dates to the mid-1800s and is worn by people in mourning.
51. A simple question
Why do milk jugs have circular indentions? One person needed to know. Well, it forces to lid to pop off if the carton is frozen or dropped to prevet an explosion.

Nope. It’s a megalodon tooth. But the person who found this didn’t know that until they asked questions online.

Clueless, the person who saw this was determined to learn more. An individual had the answer. While not yet available, this apparently obscures the vehicle as its test driven.

Seeing this made no sense. But one poster helped out. This design eliminates cumbersome stairwells in multistory car garages.

A mirror on the outside of a house? One person posted a photo and question. Called a gadepeji, this allows people to see the street without getting up from the sofa.
56. Kitchen gadget
This individual knew this was a kitchen gadget but didn’t know what it did. Hello internet users. One poster said it was a powdered sugar duster while another said an egg separator.
57. Old-time ritual
Initially, an individual thought this was a vase. But it’s not even close. After cutting their hair, women used to put it in a pot and then use it later to stuff pillows.
58. Wine sealer
Found at their grandfather’s house, this person wanted answers. After posting a photo online, they got the information wanted. This is used to put a cork back into a bottle
59. Dual purpose
No, it’s something entirely different. One poster shared this is a rolling pin that also cuts. How handy.
60. Not a pelican
That’s what one person thought. But after talking to people online, they made a fascinating discovery. This ancient clamp was used to tie off umbilical cords of newborn babies.
