The TODAY Show wanted to make a difference in the lives of some viewers that were trying to start a new chapter in their life. After reviewing tapes, they knew just who to pick to help spread a little joy their way.
The Deserving Winners
Mother and son Cindy and Aaron Springer were chosen from Ohio and flown out to New York for the Ambush Makeover team to work their magic.
Louis Licari and Jill Martin are the leaders of the expert team and couldn’t wait to help these two update their looks and style with their expertise. The fun surprise began when Cindy’s sister Kim got notified her entry won. Kim explains why she lovingly nominated her sister. For starters, she hasn’t cut her hair in 45 years. She knew she was looking for a new purpose and passion in life so why not also start with a fresh new look for her outward appearance as well.
The Rock Of The Family
Her nephew Aaron is starting his own business. She knows he has the talent and why not give him an updated look for his new venture? Neither Cindy or Aaron knew they were nominated, so it was a true “ambush makeover.” Then the mic came to Kim so she could explain her reasons for nominating them.
Cindy has been the stronghold for our family for a long, long time. I feel like she needs a fresh start.
Her son Aaron chimed in and said,
She’s always taking care of people. She’s helped me through college.
When asked what kind of look they were hoping for Aaron replied with,
Something more sophisticated, something more professional.
They Are Both More Than Ready
Cindy admits she needs a hair cut and is hoping for something different than her current style. Something tells us the Ambush Makeover team has the exact same sentiment in mind and they were ready to spoil them for the entire day.
The time had come for the big reveals and Cindy and Aaron’s family were gathered around excitedly wearing blindfolds. First out was Aaron and when the blindfolds were allowed to be removed, hoots and hollers were heard throughout the studio. Everyone was clearly blown away, and for good reason: he was unrecognizable. His hair was cut short, he was wearing a handsome and trendy suit and
“Who is that guy?”
could be heard being asked in the background.
The hosts asked “Are you happy?” and Aaron responded excitedly with,
Yes! I’ve been looking for a new look.
He got a new movie star look and is more than ready to tackle his new business venture ahead of him.
The Next Big Reveal
It’s finally Cindy’s turn and her reveal does not disappoint. Her family is overwhelmed and rushed in for a hug. There is no doubt her husband especially is quite pleased with his wife’s new and glamorous look. She finally gets to look in the mirror and exclaims,
I don’t even look like me. Wow!
Cindy got a customized cut and color and truly looked 20 years younger. She admits she loved the focused attention and from top to bottom she got an updated look right down to the leopard print shoes. She has been married for 45 years and this is the first time her husband has seen her with her hair cut.
