Being a police officer isn’t easy— and it seems it’s only getting tougher. Being an officer means you need to be constantly ready for combat while also playing the role of counselor, priest, lawyer and social worker for everyone you meet.

Officers are often met with horrific circumstances during their shifts, not to mention the risk of losing their lives.

Currently, there are roughly 900,000 sworn officers in the United States, and about one-third of them suffer symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In this line of work, it’s important to stay light-hearted and to have fun.

It’s easy to become bitter and jaded without any type of stress release. That’s why a man who goes by Mike the Cop started the non-profit organization Humanizing the Badge.

Humanizing the Badge is dedicated to bringing police departments and non-profits together, while also helping first respondents manage stress and reduce suicide rates. One of the Mike does this is through comedy and humor.

Mike has been serving as an officer for nearly ten years. Back in 2014, he started blogging and posting YouTube videos, ultimately amassing a large following. According to his YouTube channel:

“Mike the Cop goes around the country stealing cop cars and other equipment to make videos and then stays on the run from town to town. If you see him, report him to your local authorities. Or, you can just continue to laugh with him or at him as he shares his sarcasm and ideas in the world.”

Earlier this year, Mike wondered what it would be like if cops addressed their arrestees the same way flight attendants and pilots addressed their passengers. From that one thought, a hilarious viral video was born.

The video compilation shows the moment arrested men are put in the back of Mike’s police car.

Mike is seated in the front seat and holds his radio to his mouth. Before bringing them back to the station, he goes into his hilarious flight attendant routine. “Attention prisoner, this is your Cop Captain speaking,” he tells the first man. “First, on behalf of the police department, I’d like to thank you for picking our jurisdiction for an arrest; we know you had your choice of cities.”

“Visibility is clear today. In fact, if you look out the left side, you’ll see your car being towed away.”

“We’re set for an on-time arrival to the jail. You’ll be entering through cell number four, where you’ll be served a mildly warm Hot Pocket.”

“Until then, sit back and enjoy the ride and contemplate your ridiculous life decisions!”

The following arrests follow a similar format. Quite frankly, the whole thing is hilarious— but the arrested men are less amused. “Is this guy serious?” they seem to be asking themselves, watching Mike from the backseat.

At one point, he congratulates a man for being a “frequent flyer”, earning him perks like bibles, romance novels, and the right to remain silent.

Since being uploaded, Mike’s hilarious video has been viewed more than a million times.

“Dude, this is great. Don’t ever stop with that sense of humor.”

“Omg. I’ve never been arrested, but how could you get MAD? I would have been laughing hysterically. This officer is a genius.”

“I support this. Cops risk their lives dealing with unpredictable people. Thank you for your service and humor.”
