When it comes to who can enter your home, spiders are definitely unwelcome guests. Many of us are horrified by spiders and have no desire to sleep in a room where one may be lurking. While the extra company is definitely unwanted, none of us want to fumigate our homes with dozens of chemicals. These all-natural spider repellants will free your home from pests while keeping your air clean and healthy.

1. Peppermint and Dish Soap

Mix together 3 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of peppermint essential oil. Pour it into a spray bottle, and shake well. Spray anywhere you think a spider might go.

2. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a strong spice. The scent is simply unmistakeable. Sprinkle cinnamon around the perimeter of your house to keep the spiders away.

3. Mint and Cotton Balls

Spiders do not like mint. Dip some cotton balls in mint essential oil, and place them underneath or outside your house. For an added bonus, you can plant mint in your garden to keep the spiders out.

4. Chestnuts

Chestnuts and walnuts are great at repelling spiders. Place them around the outside of your house to prevent spiders from coming inside, or put them under furniture and on windowsills to motivate them to move out.

5. Saltwater

Saltwater can actually kill a spider. Mix together a gallon of warm water and one ounce of salt. Then spray it directly onto spiders and their nests.

6. White Vinegar

Vinegar is powerful stuff. Its acetic acid content makes it a strong spider repellant. Mix water and vinegar in a spray bottle, then spray into all the nooks and cracks of your home.

7. Citrus Peel

Spiders CANNOT stand citrus. While you can use the peel of any citrus fruit, the easiest is the orange. Rub citrus peels on baseboards, windowsills, really anywhere.

8. Cedar

Cedar smells great to humans, but not so great to spiders. Add some cedar mulch to the perimeter of your home, and you will stop spiders from entering. Make sure you maintain the mulch so it stays effective.

9. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil seems to have an endless list of uses, and spider repellant has made it onto the list. Mix one part coconut oil with two parts water. Then simply spray it across the entryways of your home.

10. Onions

We all know how sensitive the senses are to onions, so imagine what they would do to a spider. Slice some onions and place them in a bowl of water. Then set the bowl near the place where you saw the spiders, and it will drive them out.

11. Turmeric

This spice makes a fantastic spider repellant. Drop a little water into two tablespoons of turmeric, and mix to form a paste. Next dip cotton balls in the paste and place them around your home. Just be sure that you never put the paste directly onto furniture or walls – it will stain.

No one wants spiders taking over their home. If you see a spider – or even if you are just worried – try these all-natural remedies to rid your home of spiders while keeping your air clean.
